Admittedly, stormy weather isn't our favorite, but sometimes a few showers can turn into something truly beautiful. This morning was certainly one of those cases when clouds cleared up, revealing a rare, stunning quadruple rainbow over parts of Long Island, New York. One lucky resident caught the phenomenon in a striking photo that's since gone viral.

"I didn't realize how rare it was, I just knew it was beautiful," Amanda Curtis told 1010 WINS radio station. "My train was coming, but I just took out my phone, snapped a quick photo, and ran after my train."

According to USA Today, the first—and last, until now—quadruple rainbow was caught on camera in 2011.

In fact, people in nearby locations only captured double or triple rainbows overhead.

According to BBC, where the first quadruple rainbow was recorded, the tertiary and quaternary arches are often less visible than the first two, making it hard to see—and even harder to show up on camera.

Amanda even first took out her camera because of a double rainbow: "People were taking pictures of a double rainbow, and I saw that there were four separate rainbows," she told USA Today.

If one thing's for sure, it's that a few Long Island residents had a very lucky morning.
